Teaching Film Through Faith

As a filmmaker and teaching artist, I am passionate about equipping students with both the technical tools and the spiritual perspective to tell meaningful stories. I believe cinema is the most powerful art form through which we can explore truth, beauty, redemption, and the presence of God.

My goal is to create a classroom environment where students learn to engage with film critically and creatively, to recognize how God can speak through stories, and to develop their own voice as filmmakers who reflect light, purpose, and integrity in their work.

Teaching Film through God’s Lens

I grew up making films with my brother, Luke, and from a young age, I saw how powerful storytelling is. I believe filmmaking is one of the most powerful art forms—it often weaves together music, poetry, visual art, and performance into one. I believe film is one of the most profound ways God speaks through art.

I believe you can find God in “Finding Nemo” just as much as a typical, Christian film. Stories of hope, sacrifice, reconciliation, and beauty often reveal the heart of God in ways that surprise us.

My passion is teaching others how to see and engage with film in this way—to recognize how truth and light can shine through a wide range of stories, and to inspire students to create their own work with meaning, purpose, and wonder.
